AIIMS to Gurugram in Minutes
If you live in Delhi-NCR, you know how frustrating regular commuting is—more so the stretch from AIIMS to Gurugram. At times, it takes an eternity to reach your workplace. On a bad traffic day, it might take you 1.5 hours to reach just 32 km, and to be honest, it makes you weaker for work even before it begins.
But here’s some good news that is a welcome relief. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started documentation on a 20-km straight, high-speed, signal-free elevated road from AIIMS to Gurugram via Mahipalpur.
Having personally been a regular casualty of Delhi traffic, I can only term this a game-changer. Imagine traveling on this road in a matter of minutes when you’d otherwise crawl for an hour and a half. It’s not time-saving; it’s adding quality to the life of lakhs of people who commute daily.
Before DPR work commences, a feasibility study will be conducted. It will assess alignment opportunities, traffic surveys, lane requirements, and consider social and environmental impacts. The project proceeds to the construction stage only if it is deemed feasible.
The entire planning and report preparation process would last for about nine months.
Currently, a journey from AIIMS to Gurugram via Mahipalpur is a test of patience. If this corridor is created, that journey would shrink from 50–90 minutes to a mere fraction. For daily commuters, that’s additional family time, less frustration, and a less stressful start and end of the day.
Part of a Bigger Plan
This flyover is also a part of an overarching plan to clear Delhi’ traffic. We have witnessed recently the inauguration of Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II, which has provided 80 km of national highways within and around Delhi. These roads are making the journey faster and smarter, and the new corridor is just as capable for this dream.
Final Thoughts
As someone who has wasted countless hours wedged in Mahipalpur traffic signals, this project is a promise of a better future. Yes, it’s still in the planning phase, and civil work will only be initiated post-approvals, but the fact that NHAI has publicly gone on record saying it will start paperwork is a step in the right direction.
To me, that’s not just an infrastructure project—it’s a lifestyle upgrade. If you’re thinking of investing, check with BOP.in for the right projects and smart opportunities.
